Started Mixing Marie's EP today at my studio at Darkhorse and it is going to be killer. No pics today as my battery died and I can't find my charger. Not alot of news - been in the studio and that's it - even missed a poker game tonight so I could stay late and mix. If you know me, you know that's bizarre!!!!

Back out at Darkhorse now doing overdubs with Marie Miller, a new artist from Virginia with a great voice who also plays a some killer bazouki solos! Here's a "thru the glass" shot of her working the mic and dodging some major thunderstorms....

Finished with the country record, and everyone seems pleased. It was fast and furious, mixing 11 songs in 4 1/2 days. Never met the producer, we never even spoke - our only discussions were via email. I would email him mp3's and he would email me his mix notes. Record making in the 21st century!
Back to the Bennett House this week to work with my old partner in crime Mark Heimermann on a project with a new artist he's developing. She's 16 years old and bringing her parents, Mark's already told me to watch my language....

Tracked a great record last week for Jason Gay. an artist out of Minneapolis. Recorded at the historic Bennett House in downtown Franklin. Haven't worked there in quite some time, but the house still sounds great - a very ambient sounding recoding space with a very unique sound.
Mixing country music this week in my studio - a somewhat new experience for me despite having lived in Nashvegas for 15 years! The scary part is the producer is out of town, so I've been mixing for 2 days with no feedback or input from him. It's a female artist and I'm going for more of a Jonatha Brook / Shawn Colvin feel since that's what I'm more familiar with. I don't know anything about current country music, and I don't know what he's gonna think!
