Summer Concert Series
Tuesday night - Bob Dylan & Willie Nelson - Greer Stadium.
Completely awesome show. Best live sound I have heard in a long time, maybe ever. Willie sang everything I wanted to hear, and Dylan was - well, Dylan. Two of the most incredible songwriters in music.

Wednesday night - Robert Plant - Ryman Auditorium.
"Black Dog", "Whole Lotta Love", "When the Levee Break", "No Quarter", etc. etc. etc. I was like a 16 year old kid at my first rock show. Great band and Plant sounded phenomenal. Ryman ushers almost spoiled the show though by trying to get the crowd to stay in their seats like we were at church or something. The crowd eventually won out though, and sent the 90 year-old grandmothers they employ as ushers running for safety.

The talent level at these 2 shows was off the charts, especially compared to a majority of the acts out there today. Very inspiring...

Back In...
Mixing the rest of this week in my studio with Brown Bannister who is producing a record for Sara Groves, from Minneapolis (what's with all these cooky talented Minnesotans?). I mixed Sara's "All Right Here" record several years ago, and I'm glad to have been called back in for this one as well.

I spent last week in Dallas and it was sweltering hot - 100+ all week! But I did get to eat at the new Nobu restaurant in Dallas, and it was the best meal I've ever had. If you've never heard of Nobu, do some research and get there quickly!

Busy summer coming up, with lots of good music coming my way - should be fun...

Whew...
Just finished 10 mixes for Rene Hill and I think it turned really great. Sir Jeffery Roach did a great job combining some really unusual combinations of elements like beat box grooves and whacky synth treatments with steel guitars, acoustic guitars, and even a banjo! And Rene has a beautiful voice. Richard Dodd will be mastering next week and polishing it all up. I'm off to a secure, undisclosed location for some R&R.

I'll be back....

more fun stuff
I've been tracking at Fireside for a new artist named Ana Laura from Brownsville, Texas. She's a great singer and alot of fun to work with. Also mixing out at my studio with Jeff Roach on a new artist named Rene Hill. It is a very uniquely styled record that features the colossal acoustic guitar styling of Dave Cleveland laid over Roach's funky beatbox grooves and some kick-butt vocals by Rene - good stuff...

I'm now taking wagers on the Michael Jackson verdict now that it's in the hands of the jury. If interested, contact me...

peace out,

TR
