Outta here...
Off to my secure, undisclosed location for a little R&R, combined with a little bit of work, but not too much. Finished up mixing a worship project today that Sal Oliveri produced. Returning soon to my studio to mix the Dynamites two new songs that we recently tracked at Groundstar Studio in Nashville. I have some other things beginning to bubble up to the surface that will be cool. Until then, here's a parting shot from the Dynamites session - can anyone tell me what the heck this thing is???

Hmong Music!
I'm working on a project for a Hmong artist named Lee Herr. What is Hmong you may ask? They are a people with a most interesting history starting in Tibet centuries ago. Lee himself has an incredible story of fleeing Laos when he was 9 years old, swimming across the Mekong river and living in the jungle for a time until he was able to escape to the U.S. and ended up in Minnesota. This week he comes down to Darkhorse to track a record he's working on with Nate Sabin as exec. producer, and Tim Zhorne, who is slaying it when it comes to production. We have an awesome band with Steve Brewster, Matt Pearson, Jerry McPherson, George Cochinni, and Jeff Roach and the tracks are huge! We have been having a blast - check back for more details on Lee's project, I will be mixing it in August. Here is a pic of Steve's set-up for one song - he was playing a log from the woodpile at Darkhorse, and a djembe - all while sipping a Perrier! We wanted it really dry and in your face, so I built a "foam condo" around the set-up to eliminate the ambience as much as possible...

see ya,
