Last week I celebrated my birthday - the big 4-0!!! The party covered 3 states and 3 major citites, Dallas, Austin, and Nashville, with a few stops in Arkansas along the way... We had Tex-mex at El Fenix (twice), Taco Diner, Chuy's, Maria's, and Las Manitas. We had BBQ at Smitty's Market in Lockhart, TX, and County Line BBQ in Rockwall, TX, and some home-cooked meals by mom. Along the way, I only gained about 5 pounds - not too bad...

My wife had a party for me where the theme was 70's and 80's rock, and my sister-n-law, Karen, made me the most rocking birthday cake ever - a replication of the Kiss "Rock and Roll Over" album cover! Forty doesn't feel much different, yet...

I'm in the studio right now finishing up the basic tracks for a new Sara Groves Christmas project. Ben Shive is producing, and we are getting some really vibey tracks on some old Christmas standards as well as some new songs Sara has written with Christmas themes. Looking to mix the record in August and have it out in the fall sometime. It's gonna be great! After this, I'll have a bit of time for some R&R around the house and maybe some fishing!
